A Support Program for Grieving Children, Teens, and their Families
Light House Center History
Light House Center was founded in 1992
by a caring group of individuals from
"We Are Concerned" and South Coast Hospice.
Trained by staff at the "Dougy Center" in Portland,
The South Coast Hospice Light House Center
strives to follow in thier footsteps.
(the Dougy Center was founded in 1982 as a model program
having helped establish over 70 programs throughout the nation
dedicated to assisting children through their grieving process.
The SCH Light House Center strives to follow in their footsteps.)
Fall-Winter session began in October 2006
and meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday evening
throughout the school year
In the Bereavement and Education Center.
On the South Coast Hospice Campus
Several rooms in the Center are dedicated to
the emotional healing of children and teens who have
suffered the loss of a loved one.
