Hospice Care is a special healthcare option for patients and families who are faced with a terminal illness. Hospice provides comfort care when curative treatment is no longer the patient’s choice. Patient care takes place in the patient’s residence, Assisted Living or Memory Care Facility, or a Nursing Home or Adult Foster Care Home. Hospice serves patients of all ages and views the patient, his/her family, and disease process from a holistic perspective. Hospice addresses the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient and family.
Our belief is that quality of life is as important as the length of life.
History and Service Area
South Coast Hospice opened its doors in 1985 with an all-volunteer team in a donated space. It thrived because of the community support and referrals and later became Medicare certified that allowed them to bill Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance for Hospice care. We provide services as far north as Gardiner, East to Scottsburg and south to Langlois. South Coast Hospice is honored to have provided services to our area for over three decades.
